The American economy is based on economic growth, and for a long time growth was achieved by making territorial gains, pushing west. Then economic growth was was made by opening new markets. An exponential growth occurred each time a new industry was formed. For the last quarter of a century, most of the exponential growth has come from the financial sector, where companies merge assets, layoff staff, and outsource production paystub generator for business. The modern American family is a reflection of the new American economy. American families used to have more children than they do now, as children were an economic benefit by an early age but now they are an economic drain well past their 30s. Homelessness is on the rise as the cost of living has skyrocketed but wages remain flat. The cost of health care jumps up each year, not due to new medications but because patents for those medications are bought up by conglomerates. American’s don’t save because it doesn’t pay to save.
In the 1980’s, Hollywood did not give a fuck when painting the Soviet Union as the the Evil Empire in every movie. Think of the 1984 release of Red Dawn, where the Soviet Union with the help of Cuban comrades invade a small town Colorado. Remember Rambo III, when John Rambo travels to pre-Taliban Afghanistan to rescue his war buddy captured by the Soviet army fighting the Mujahideen.
Of course, the Soviet Union collapsed in 1991 but the threat of communist nations still linger with an iron grip on power, think North Korea and China. Except for a cartoony stop animation of North Korean dictator Kim Jong-il in Team America: World Police released in 2004 there has been no film put out by the big Hollywood studios in the last 20 years that is critical of China’s policies.
It is well known that the Chinese government are actively committing what many consider human rights violations against the ethnic Uyghurs and Tibetans. Additionally, in the last 20 years, China has taken a more belligerent stance in the world stage, including building a military base in the middle of the highly contested territory in the South China Sea, over 1,000 miles from mainland China. It is widely suspected that China has hacked the federal government’s Office of Personal Management, the HR of the US government, and may have comprised personal information of government employees, federal contractors, and possibly even “state department contractors”, aka CIA agents. It has been reported, but not investigated by the media that the CIA covert network in China went completely dark in 2012, most likely because the Chinese military hacked the communication methods and procedures followed by the CIA handlers and their local informants.
It feels like the large Hollywood studios, like most companies and even nations, are turning a blind eye at the injustices being committed by the Chinese government, the Communist Party of China, all for the short term illusion of gaining access into the Chinese market.

Traffic reporting apps like Waze are a new form of community-based networks. Each day, thousands of drivers use apps like Waze, Google Maps, Apple Maps, and other mobile phone applications to report on traffic conditions. Apps like these, I believe, can and will be interconnected to form a large ad hoc transportation network that can be enabled into smart cars and smart roads. Just imagine the applications that can be developed once the roads have more smart and self driving vehicles. Even now, there are a lot of cars on the road that have cameras for assist driving, once self driving vehicles hit the road in large numbers since ip cameras online are cheap, those cameras can networked together and used to analyze license plates to look for stolen cars, automatically report pot holes, and even police/monitor other vehicles.
During the American pioneer days, an American citizen could be born and go about most of his or her life without ever meeting a federal government employee, unless it was a US Calvary soldier killing Native Americans. Today, from birth to death, a person has to live and interact and be subject of federal regulations and restrictions.
People do a lot of shit for their kids… Like staying married… If it wasn’t for kids, most people won’t stay together as long as they do… First argument over dirty socks… File for divorce over dirty sock irreconcilable difference… Fuck your dirty stinky feet, I’m out… Moving back home to my moms…
Banks give individuals home loans they can’t afford, the housing bubble spreads across the country, banks pools poor performing home loans into collateralize debt obligations to rate them as sound investments, local governments invest hundreds of millions into these collateralize debt obligations, the economy begins to slows down, hundreds of thousands are left unemployed, families can’t afford their mortgage, the housing bubble pops, banks repose homes, families are ruined, local governments lose millions from their pensions, some local governments go into bankruptcy, banks buy up homes for less than they worth, homeowners own mortgages for more than their homes are worth, banks begging renting homes back to families that lost their homes in foreclosures, banks push local governments to lower properties taxes since they now own a large number of homes, local communities lose out on income, funding to schools is cut, …
In Chaos Theory, the Butterfly Effect is the idea that a very small difference in the initial state of a physical system can make a significant difference in the state of the system at a later time. The Butterfly Effect is often described in the following terms, a butterfly flapping its wings in one part of the world might ultimately lead to a hurricane in another part of the world.
So if all of the world’s butterflies flap their wings in unison at the same time will this lead to a extension level event or do they cancel each other out? If the flapping of a butterfly can ultimately lead to a tsunami, can it also be said that a tornado can be prevented or stopped before ever forming by a different butterfly flapping somewhere else? Maybe butterflies are the only thing keeping the world from falling apart and preventing a complete and total planetary apocalypse.
The internet was initially developed by the Department of Defense as a DARPA project, and the recent PRISM surveillance program shows that the internet is still actively being developed with the co-operation from the Department of Defense, the only difference is that originally the internet was designed with Soviet Russia as the primary threat and to survive a Russian nuclear attack, now the internet is designed with the American public as the primary threat and to monitor Americans’ activities.
By not closing Guantanamo Bay as he promised in the 2008 presidential campaign and by signing the National Defense Authorization Act of 2013, by ordering the death by drone of American citizens, and many other acts President Obama has proved that he has not been the president of change Americans had hoped for. President Obama has not been a better president than President Bush, and in fact President Obama’s administration has followed to the letter many of Bush’s policies. It can safely be said that President Obama has been a disappointment as a president and that he is a token president.
