There is little question that COVID-19 originated in China, where it made its first appearance in Wuhan, China in mid-November 2019. By mid-February 2020, it had spread worldwide with tens of thousands of confirmed cases in China, Italy, Spain, and Iran. By mid-March, thousands had already died. Now, in mid-April there are about 2.5 million confirmed cases and 165 thousand dead. Across the world, governments enacted shelter in place ordinance for everyone except essential workers, like police, doctors, nurses, and grocery store baggers. Who knew that a grocery store bagger, a job that barely requires a GED, would be an essential worker?
There have been plenty of questions about the transparency of the Chinese government about the spread and death toll of COVID-19. There was mounting pressure and belief that Chinese statistics about COVID-19 cases was significantly undercounted, so much so that China has revised and doubled the official number of confirmed cases and deaths. Experts still believe that these number are low, given China’s population density in the region.
And now, in the midst of a the worst economic shutdown in modern history some people, including politicians, are beginning to question and believe that COVID-19 was engineered and subsequently escaped a research lab in Wuhan, China. If China covered up the infection rate and death toll of COVID-19, it would certainly cover up if in fact it originated in a research lab there. All we can do is continue to shelter in place while keeping social distancing, and wait for our stimulus check.
In the 1980’s, Hollywood did not give a fuck when painting the Soviet Union as the the Evil Empire in every movie. Think of the 1984 release of Red Dawn, where the Soviet Union with the help of Cuban comrades invade a small town Colorado. Remember Rambo III, when John Rambo travels to pre-Taliban Afghanistan to rescue his war buddy captured by the Soviet army fighting the Mujahideen.
Of course, the Soviet Union collapsed in 1991 but the threat of communist nations still linger with an iron grip on power, think North Korea and China. Except for a cartoony stop animation of North Korean dictator Kim Jong-il in Team America: World Police released in 2004 there has been no film put out by the big Hollywood studios in the last 20 years that is critical of China’s policies.
It is well known that the Chinese government are actively committing what many consider human rights violations against the ethnic Uyghurs and Tibetans. Additionally, in the last 20 years, China has taken a more belligerent stance in the world stage, including building a military base in the middle of the highly contested territory in the South China Sea, over 1,000 miles from mainland China. It is widely suspected that China has hacked the federal government’s Office of Personal Management, the HR of the US government, and may have comprised personal information of government employees, federal contractors, and possibly even “state department contractors”, aka CIA agents. It has been reported, but not investigated by the media that the CIA covert network in China went completely dark in 2012, most likely because the Chinese military hacked the communication methods and procedures followed by the CIA handlers and their local informants.
It feels like the large Hollywood studios, like most companies and even nations, are turning a blind eye at the injustices being committed by the Chinese government, the Communist Party of China, all for the short term illusion of gaining access into the Chinese market.
The Summer of Love was in 1967. Hundreds of thousands of hippies migrated to large metropolitan area like San Francisco and New York. In 1969, an estimated 400,000 free loving hippies gathered at Woodstock for 3 days of peace and music and sex and drugs and rock and roll. From 1967 to 1987, the year that the movie Wall Street is release, is 20 years, and most of the hippies from 1967 cut their hair and got jobs in that time. In those 20 years, the counter revolution of free love had grown up and gotten corporate jobs, those 18 year old hippies where now 38 year old middle managers in corporate raiding america of the 1987. Add another 20 years and this takes us to 2007, when about the hippie generation about to retire. In 2007, the hippies had grown to fill up most of boardrooms in corporate america. It was under the leadership of the hippie generation that dot com bubble burst in 2002, it was under their direction that jobs got outsource and offshore, they found new economic models like pooling poor performing home loans into highly rated collateral debt obligations, they found new tax strategies like double Irish and dutch sandwiches. The hippie ethos of free love turned out to be about free love of money, and this lead to the economic recession of 2008.
Anita Sarkeesian is a media critic and the creator of Feminist Frequency, a video webseries that explores the representations of women in pop culture narratives.
In reality, she is an attention seeking feminazi blogger that believes that everything in the world is misogynist, if not sexist, and that everyone that disagrees with her does so because they are misogynist too. The following is a synopsis of Anita Sarkeesian’s world view and belief system.
The internet was initially developed by the Department of Defense as a DARPA project, and the recent PRISM surveillance program shows that the internet is still actively being developed with the co-operation from the Department of Defense, the only difference is that originally the internet was designed with Soviet Russia as the primary threat and to survive a Russian nuclear attack, now the internet is designed with the American public as the primary threat and to monitor Americans’ activities.
By not closing Guantanamo Bay as he promised in the 2008 presidential campaign and by signing the National Defense Authorization Act of 2013, by ordering the death by drone of American citizens, and many other acts President Obama has proved that he has not been the president of change Americans had hoped for. President Obama has not been a better president than President Bush, and in fact President Obama’s administration has followed to the letter many of Bush’s policies. It can safely be said that President Obama has been a disappointment as a president and that he is a token president.
Her majesty, emphasis on jest, gave her Queen Elizaborg gave her Queen’s Speech and basically said nothing amongst all the proper posh, pomp, and pageantry. Here is basically what she said…
My lords and members of the house of commons, my government will collectively live in a royal fantasy land with unicorns and fairies. My government is committed to build an economy where people that work hard are properly rewarded, unlike the we the British royals that don’t work at all and reward ourselves. My government will create jobs, jobs, jobs out of lead. My government will bring forward legislation to have the common people to keep calm and carry on. My government will tax without representation. My government will continue to meddle in the Middle East and African continent. My government will ensure the good governance and development of the overseas legacy of colonization, including by protecting the Falkland islanders rights to self delusion. My lords and members of the house of commons, I pay that the blessing of the All Mighty God may rest upon your consuls
According to Wikipedia, the average life expectancy for American men is 75 compared to 80 for women. On average, men die up to five years earlier than women and I would say that the reason for that difference is women. It’s very stressful to be a man in our society, to be the bread winner, the head of household, the provider and decider. In addition to providing financially for the family, men have to provide security, and moral support which includes going shopping with the wife and answering dangerous and difficult questions like “does this make me look fat?” What is often missed as the cause of the early demise of men is that women do put a lot of extra pressure on men.
Men are constantly juggling between pressure and stress at work and at home. If the family car develops an issues, the men have to take care of it. If the house springs a leak, the men have to address it. If the neighbor is too loud, the men have to resolve it with the neighbor. If the kids are having problems at school, the men have to handle it. If there are problems at work, the men have to deal with it.
If your partner is stress, she will let you know about it. If she is concerned, you are the first to hear about. If she doesn’t like something, you better not like it either. If she she reads all of TMZ to you, you better pay attention because there will be a quiz later. If she wants something done to the house, you better go to Home Depot. If she wants to keep up with the Joneses, you better refinance it.
All of this stress, burden, pressure, tension builds up in a man and it eventually crushes him physically. When I see a large or fat man out with his beautiful wife and family at a chain restaurant ordering a large medium rare piece of stake, I feel sorry for the guy and think to myself, “that guy is trying to kill himself… slowly, one meal at a time.”
As the human species, we have it the best than we ever had it. No matter where you are in the world, compare your self now to your ancestors just 100 years back. Most people today enjoy a fair amount of leisure time, we can travel quickly and easily, we have plenty of food, we have better shelter, we can rely on decent health care and modern medicine, and yet I would say that we are, collectively, less happy than our great-great-grandparents 100 years ago. You would think that we, as a people, should be happier than ever, but we aren’t. More than ever, people today are either subscribed or self-medicated with anti-depressants, uppers or downers, sleeping pills, pain medication, psychoactive and recreational drugs just to deal with everyday life. Why are we so unhappy and will our collective depression get worse?
To me, it almost doesn’t matter if the Boston Marathon bombings was a False Flag operation or not. Either way, the Department of Homeland Security, the FBI, the Massachusetts State Police, Boston Marathon organizers, and the numerous other government agencies and non government organizations failed the marathon runners, marathon spectators, Boston residents, and American citizens.
